New BTS Idol Music Video Is A Free Fire Game Collab
Categories
BTS has collaborated with Garena Free Fire to make a brand-new music video for the song "Idol" within the popular mobile battle royale shooter.
An exciting collaboration between BTS and Garena Free Fire sees the beloved South Korean boy band perform within the mobile battle royale shooter. The digital music video even includes brand-new costumes and emotes, bringing the K-pop sensation's signature flair onto Free Fire's war-torn island. Back in 2020 a BTS music video came to Fortnite, but now the Bangtan Boys are dropping into a totally different battle royale title.
Created by Singapore-based developer Garena, Free Fire is among the most popular mobile battle royale games on the market. A direct competitor to games like PUBG Mobile and Fortnite, the third-person shooter sees players parachute onto an island and scavenge for supplies while facing off against rival gamers. The survivable area of the island gets smaller over time, forcing players into confrontations in closer quarters as the match progresses. The popularity of Free Fire has led to a number of different crossovers, like a November 2021 collaboration with the Netflix series Money Heist. A Free Fire crossover with Assassin's Creed was recently announced in March, though the game's collaboration with BTS may be its most high-profile team-up yet.

Combining two entertainment juggernauts, Garena Free Fire PH has revealed the in-game BTS music video to YouTube. The video sees a digital version of the band perform the song "Idol," the lead single from the group's 2018 album Love Yourself: Answer, within Free Fire. Iconography from the game is present throughout the video, and the Bangtan Boys actually designed in-game costumes and emotes for use in the crossover project. The Free Fire music video allows BTS to perform in truly exotic locations, like an underwater stage surrounded by fish, which grants otherworldly spectacle to their performance of "Idol.
While the K-pop group has crossed over into Fortnite and Free Fire, the band also has its own games. The BTS Universe Story mobile game, which released back in 2020, allows players to create unique scenarios that transform the seven members of BTS into detectives, baristas, zombie slayers and more. BTS Universe Story is essentially a comic book creation platform, with a suite of creation tools letting players write and direct their own unique storylines by adjusting clothing, character positions and environments.
BTS has previously used video game collaborations to release music on an interactive platform, and now the band's work with Free Fire has resulted in a wholly original music video. Each member of the team actually helped create new items and emotes, making for a truly personal and authentic crossover event. The digital performance has let BTS bring "Idol" to life with more color and spectacle than ever before.
