今天冬至【Winter Solstice 】，也就是一年中白天最短和夜晚最長的日子。之後的每一天，白天逐漸變長，夜晚則逐漸變短。中國的傳統裡，在這一天，有九件事你應該知道。
原來冬至有這麼多講究……
「The Winter Solstice is as significant as the Spring Festival.」跟家人一起過。
中國古代有一種說法：「冬至和春節一樣重要。」早在周朝，人們在冬至這天祭神。在漢朝會在這天舉行慶祝活動，無論官員還是普通百姓都會休息一天。之後，唐宋清，冬至成為了祭天祭祖的日子。
原來冬至有這麼多講究……
「 In this period, eating an appropriate amount of nuts, such as peanuts, walnuts, chestnuts, hazelnuts and almonds, is good for one’s body.」可以吃適量的堅果，如花生、核桃、栗子、榛子和杏仁。
從這天開始，生命活動衰退。中醫認為，堅果性溫，大多數堅果具有滋補腎臟、健腦健心的作用。
「Eating dumplings」 吃餃子是北方人在冬至必不可少的。
俗話說：「冬至的第一天吃餃子，夏至的第一天吃面條。」
「Eating wontons」 江蘇蘇州人習慣在仲冬吃餛飩。
據說，因為吳王厭惡各種昂貴的食物，西施就獨出機杼地做了餛飩給他吃，吳王很喜歡吃了很多。為了紀念西施，蘇州人在這天會吃餛飩來慶祝。
「Eating tangyuan」 吃湯圓。
在上海等地，人們吃湯圓來慶祝冬至。
「Eating mutton and vermicelli soup」 喝頭腦。
在寧夏銀川，人們把冬至稱為「鬼節」，通常喝羊肉粉絲湯，然後吃湯裡的餃子。他們給這道冬至湯起名字：「頭腦」。
「Eating red-bean and glutinous rice」吃紅豆糯米飯。
在長江以南的一些地區，冬至這天全家人會聚在一起吃紅豆糯米飯，驅鬼驅邪。
